Post-OXBT chat with BitGod

From new twitter account to 130k in 3 months, BitGod has carried the banner for the most talked about BRC20 launch to-date: $OXBT. The token now has the most unique addresses over the largest cap BRC20, $ORDI, by a factor of 3. Now BitGod & crew set their sights towards RedactedBTC.

We chatted with BitGod right after the launch. Here's some select comments:

You finally got $OXBT launched. I don't think anyone has slept much, especially not you. Initial thoughts?

It's been about 3 weeks that we've thinking, preparing for this launch, the mint went really smoothly, Luminex was a top notch partner. Now we have 30,000 holders and are working through a number of other things. I couldn't be more proud of our team and the Luminex team.

Talk to me about the "BitGod blocks"

Yeah it was really cool to see – I think we might even do something next week related to those blocks. I've even been thinking of getting a tattoo of those blocks, ya know – "pitch" myself to Bitcoin. Trying to decide between the Casey skull, the redacted Inscriptions, or the [BitGod] Blocks.

Blocks around ~791430, the iconic "BitGod Blocks"

I have to say I'm really impressed, you pulled all this stuff really quickly – the Luminex project, the whole launch.

Luminex has done a few Inscription launches but this was their first BRC20 launch. We wanted to move quickly as there's a clock ticking on being top of everyone's minds. I was in Miami and we were tring to launch, but I was talking to Udi and he advised we push it back another week, "get another 30k followers", and launch it.

With crypto, Bitcoin, it's not a linear game – it's an exponential game. And timing is incredibly important so we needed to move fast to launch.

So who is the BitGod "audience"? Are these Bitcoiners, are these NFT degens, the large Asian BRC20 cohort?

This is really just a cross section across all of crypto. You can see that these people come from every chain, just by looking at their pfps. Part of our BRC20 mint was focused on onboarding & education. The majority of these people aren't Bitcoin-native, they're coming from ETH & Solana.

We want to push this narrative that "[Bitcoin] is where this stuff should be – NFTs, DeFi, innovation, user activity." That's one of the big goals of Redacted.

Thoughts on where you'd like to see the ecosystem go?

I think there's a number of challenges right now like various indexers, exploring how I or Redacted could be involved in helping improve that. We want to bring more people into Bitcoin and see what we can do to help expand the Ordinals ecosystem.
